Originally named The Settlers of Catan, Catan 5th edition has a new look and a new name. The 5th edition also has a revised rulebook, featuring clarified rules to help alleviate uncertainty in some game play and also designed to ease new players into the game.
In Catan, settlers seek to tame the remote but rich isle of Catan. Start by revealing Catan's many harbours and regions: pastures, fields, mountains, hills, forests, and desert. No two games are the same with many varied setups. Guide your settlers to victory with clever trading and cunning development. Use resource combinations- grain, wool, ore, brick, and lumber -to buy handy development cards and build roads, settlements, and cities. Acquire your resources through trades, cards, or lucky dice (even outside your turn). Catan (aka The Settlers of Catan) has been awarded with "Game of the Year," "Hall of Fame," and even "Game of the Century" honours in Germany, the United States, and a host of other countries worldwide. Get together with friends or family and learn to play in about 15 minutes. Game length is typically 60-90mins.
